Today, we’re thrilled to have a conversation with a true Blitz legend—TO, also known as BPTO (Big Play Tony Ornelas). Recognized as the “Defender of the Net,” TO’s return to the Blitz scene has generated considerable buzz and excitement.

Recently back from a trip to Russia, TO has intriguing tales to share about his experience in a remote town with sluggish Wi-Fi and the contrasting allure of Moscow. We’ll also get his take on the aesthetics of Russian versus Colombian women, and what motivated him to return to Blitz after a break.

Episode 18 – Navigating the Blitz with T.ORNELAS[HoF]

Could you please introduce yourself?
I AM TO. (THE REAL TO). AKA BPTO (BIG PLAY TONY ORNELAS) — DEFENDER OF THE NET

You recently returned from a trip to Russia. Can you share your experiences and impressions from that visit?
ABOUT AS FUN AS IT CAN GET BEING STUCK IN A SMOL TOWN WITH SLOW WIFI AND NOTHING WITHIN A 15 MINUTE DRIVE DISTANCE. NATURE IS NICE THOUGH — IF LYMPH NODE SUCKING ZOMBIE MOSQUITOS ARE YOUR KIND OF THING I GUESS. MOSCOW DO BE NICE THOUGH.

In your opinion, how do the aesthetics of Russian women compare to those of Colombian women?
RUSSIANS ARE ESSENTIALLY WINTER LATINAS MINUS THE PLASTIC SURGERY AND VISA WANTING ATTITUDE SO MY VOTE GOES THERE. ITS A SHAME THEY ALL END UP LOOKING THE SAME AS THEY AGE AND TURN INTO BABUSHKAS THOUGH. BRAZILIAN HOMEGURLS ARE OF HIGHER TIER THAN COLOMBIAN IMHO.

After an extended hiatus from Blitz, what motivated your return? How are you finding the modern version of Blitz with the inclusion of Money and UV additions?
EVERY FEW MONTHS I’D CHECK THE OLD WEBSITE FOR UPDATES AND ALWAYS WONDERED WHAT HALF OF YOU MISERABLE JOKES WERE UP TO BUT I STARTED PLAYING SC2 NOT TOO LONG AGO AND ALWAYS FIGURED THERE MIGHT BE A V2 OR SOMETHING SO I WAS A BIT SHOCKED IT DIDNT MAKE THE LEAP. IF ANYTHING I FIGURED WE’D MIGRATE TO THE MADDEN VERSION THAT JC5 WAS WORKING ON. ANYWAY TONY (FAKE TO) BEGGED ME TO COME BACK AND SHOW THEM WHO THE REAL TO IS SO I HERE I AM. THE NEW UPDATES ARE PRETTY DOPE. IM STILL HAVING A HARD TIME ADJUSTING TO MOST OF THEM AND MASTERING THEM BUT NICE QOL UPDATES FOR SURE. THEY DID A TERRIFIC JOB.

How would you assess your individual performance this season with Phoenix D?
THE ONLY PRO AMONG A BUNCH OF ORDINARY JOES FOR SURE

If you had been available for the first round of the playoffs against Huevo Picantes, do you believe you should have started or been involved in the game? How do you think your presence might have influenced the outcome?
DOH. I AM TO AFTER ALL. THEY DONT CALL ME BIG PLAY TO FOR NOTHING. I WOULDA SHOWN UP AND CHANGED THE GAME. DRAWN UP DOUBLE CVG AND SET UP EASY TDS.

Having been with Phoenix D since week 2, what was the team environment like? How would you evaluate Jeffster’s performance as captain and quarterback? Do you have any advice for him? Additionally, how was your relationship with CJ?
IT WAS KIND OF LIKE BEING STUCK IN THE MIDDLE SEAT BETWEEN TWO TWIN BROTHERS. JEFFSTER IS LIKE THAT GUY WE ALL KNOW WHO EVERY TIME WE RUN INTO HIM HE REMINDS US “HE COULDA GONE PRO” IF HE HAD STUCK TO IT. HES A BIT DELUSIONAL IN THE SENSE THAT HE THINKS HE CAN JUST STEP IN AND SAY “IT’S MORPHING TIME!” AND GET HIS POWERS BACK FROM 10 YEARS AGO BUT HE ENDS UP LOOKING LIKE LIGHTING MCQUEEN AT THE END OF CARS 3 WHEN HE FINDS OUT HES WASHED. HES STILL GOOD WHEN HE PREPARES THOUGH.

CJ IS LIKE A MORE FILTERED PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE VERSION OF PRISM. HE TENDS TO BITE HIS TONGUE A BIT MORE BUT YOU CAN DEFINITELY SEE THE SKILL. HIS “NEW” PLAYBOOK HES TRYING TO IMPLEMENT AS A QB IS HORRENDOUS THOUGH SO IN THE MOST RESPECTFUL WAY — I HOPE HE DOESNT MAKE THE CUT AS QB TO PREVENT A TRUE TRAGEDY.

Following CJ’s release of the community tier list, where you were placed in Tier 4, what are your thoughts on this classification? Do you agree or disagree with it?
JOKE TIER LIST MADE BY JOKE INDIVIDUALS. I’M NOT SURPRISED THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO DISTINGUISH GREATNESS AMONGST THEM. I’M BETTER THAN HALF THE JOKES LISTED ABOVE ME. THE OTHER HALF SPENT THE DECADE IN BETWEEN THE BLITZ HIATUS PRACTICING SO THOSE TRY HARDS CAN KEEP THEIR SPOT SINCE IT MEANS THAT MUCH TO THEM.

Looking ahead to the next season, do you have any plans or intentions to sign up? Are there specific players you are interested in teaming up with?
WELL MAYBE…. I GOTTA STOP GETTING CRANKY AND TIRED FIRST. ALI AND MONEY WOULD BE NICE. I’D TURN THEM INTO CONTENDERS. ME, WCK, AND CHIKI WON WOULD BE THE TERRIFICLY HUMBLE YET SKILLED TRIO CAPABLE OF SWITCHING POSITIONS AND STILL EMERGING WITH A W.
